Responding to the coronavirus/COVID-19, the United Way of Bemidji Area has established an Emergency Fund to support local nonprofits with unexpected expenses.
These funds will support access to food, emergency needs, and care to elderly/most vulnerable in our community. Agencies with unexpected expenses combined with fundraising shortfalls due to event cancellations will be included.
“Keeping our seniors healthy and providing working families with basic needs is incredibly important at this time,” said United Way of Bemidji Area, Executive Director, Denae Alamano. “We will continue to monitor the needs of agencies and may need to provide additional assistance as everything unfolds.”
First Round of Funding, March 30th:
- LSS Meals on Wheels to provide extra meals to seniors
- Nameless Coalition for the Homeless’ collaborative to house the homeless in the annexed Super 8 building
- Evergreen Youth and Family Services to provide basic needs and resources for at risk youth
