WEEKEND FOOD PACKS FOR CHILDREN

Every weekend, 56 children in Clearwater County have food to take home through the Backpack Buddies program. Currently, 32 students at Bagley Elementary School and 24 students at Clearbrook-Gonvick School receive weekend food packs to help ensure they have enough to eat when school meals aren’t available, helping them have food at times when other resources aren't available.

This program is made possible through the generosity of our community. Thank you to TEAM Industries for helping assemble and store the food packs, and to our generous donors, including Clearwater-Polk Operation Round Up and the Affinity Plus Foundation, whose support helps ensure local children and families have the nutrition they need.

WARM WINTER ITEMS FOR LOCAL FAMILIES

Coats for the Community helps ensure Clearwater County families are prepared for Minnesota winters. During the 3rd annual distribution day on November 13th in Bagley, more than 500 winter items, including coats, hats, gloves, and other cold-weather gear, were distributed to children and adults.

This annual program is made possible through a community-wide drive to collect winter items. Thank you to the Bagley Rotary Club, Galens Fresh Food Market, Galli Furniture & Appliance, Sanford Bagley Medical Center, and Bagley Elementary School, along with generous volunteers, for helping make this annual event possible. More details about the 2026 Coats for the Community are coming soon.

BRINGING HOLIDAY JOY TO CLEARWATER FAMILIES

Holiday Gifts for Kids helps ensure Clearwater County children and families experience the joy and comfort of the holiday season. Through this program, formerly known as the Clearwater Christmas Project, 436 children received a holiday gift, and 150 households received food vouchers to help provide a special holiday meal.

This effort is made possible through community generosity and support. Thank you to Galli Furniture & Appliance, Sanford Bagley Medical Center, Galens Fresh Food Market, Dollar General - Bagley, and the American Legion, along with many generous donors and volunteers, for helping make the holidays brighter for children and families across Clearwater County.

BUILDING A LOVE OF READING

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, 122 children ages 0–5 in Clearwater County receive a free book every month, helping build early literacy skills and a love of reading from the very start. Research shows that children who grow up with books in the home are more likely to develop the early language and reading skills they need to succeed in school.

United Way helps fund the cost of bringing this program to Clearwater County, about $30 per child each year, ensuring families participate at no cost. Thank you to Clearwater-Polk Operation Round Up and other local donors for helping make it possible for local children to receive a new book in the mail every month.
