History Museum Gift Shop Attendant

Description:
Support the History Museum by volunteering as Evening Gift Shop Attendant! After (a little!) training, you’ll process admissions to the museum and gift shop sales and provide general guidance for museum guests. We appreciate your support, even if you’re only able to work one day a week.
History Research Assistant
Available Hours:
Wednesday – Saturday, 10am – 6pm (offsite/remote also available)
Description:
Do you like historic research? Do you like solving mysteries? Volunteer as a Researcher at the History Center and put those skills to work! We regularly receive research questions about family ancestry, home and business history, and area historic sites. Use our resources and the Internet to help answer questions and further our community knowledge.
Skills/Experience Needed:
Some experience in Internet and/or ancestral research.
Museum Artifact Inventory Assistant
Available Hours:
Wednesday – Saturday, 10am – 6pm
Description:
Do you love caring for delicate objects and learning more about their history? Join us at the History Center and assist with the inventory of our Morrison Native American Collection, which includes hundreds of artifacts. We’ll train you on the step-by-step inventory process, and then you’ll be matched with a partner for the work!
Skills/Experience Needed:
Some computer use helpful but not necessary.
Write for the Historical Society

Description:
The Historical Society seeks writers of all ages interested in writing pieces for our social media, blog, newsletter, and (new!) community journal. Topics must relate to Beltrami County History. Training workshops and recordings will be available to writers to learn about our writing opportunities and style expectations.

On-Call Event Setup/Teardown Assistance

Description:
The Historical Society occasionally needs assistance setting up and breaking down chairs for programs and events. Volunteers will be added to a call sheet. If available, volunteers will be asked to set up and/or take down chairs, tables, and/or other equipment for programs and events.
Social Media Champion/Influencer for the Historical Society

Description:
The Historical Society seeks Facebook and Instagram users interested in helping us spread the virtual word about the Historical Society. Use our photographs and archives to create engaging social media posts that highlight our collections, exhibits, services, programs, gift shop, and membership and donation opportunities.
Memory Collection Volunteer during the All School Reunion

Description:
Beltrami County Historical Society is collecting photographs (and their stories) during All School Reunion weekend, July 25-27. Memory Collection Volunteers will be assigned to sign in visitors, assist with paperwork completion, scan photographs, and/or collect photograph stories.
Training will be provided for each role before the beginning of the event.
Pioneer Building Cleanup at the Beltrami County Fairgrounds

Help us prepare the Doud Cabin and Sunnyside School buildings for the Beltrami County Fair! Tasks include dusting, mopping, wiping down walls, windows, and doors, and preparing artifacts for the Fair.
Pioneer Buildings Attendant/Guide at the Beltrami County Fair

Pick Your Shift(s) Thursday – Sunday, August 25-28, 12-4pm or 4pm-8pm
Description:
Support the Historical Society as an attendant/guide at the Beltrami County Fair at the Doud Cabin and/or Sunnyside School buildings. Responsibilities include providing general information about the buildings (provided to you), encouraging visitors to sign guestbooks and participate in activities (scavenger hunt, games, demonstrations, programs), and processing souvenir/book sales and donations.
Training will be provided ahead of your shift(s).
Depot Cleanup Day

Friday, June 24, 2-4pm and Saturday, June 25, 7 – 11am
Description:
Help us clean up our Depot! Projects will include grounds cleanup, bed weeding (and potentially planting), painting our Meeting Room, moving/putting away artifacts, setting up a tent and chairs, and more! We’ll have projects suitable for individuals and groups of all ages!
Shelf Installation Assistance!

Description:
Beltrami County Historical Society received a generous donation of a condensed shelving unit from Sanford Health, and we’ll use this time to move the boxes and old shelves, install the new shelves, and then re-organize our boxes into the space. Volunteers must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lb.
This is a great project for businesses/teams seeking volunteering!
