Trail Maintenance and Other Outdoor Project Help

MHAS needs volunteers to help maintain trails, board walks, check signs, and assist with other outdoor projects at Neilson Spearhead Center and Preserve (NSC) - our environmental science facility 11 miles southwest of Bemidji. NSC is a 466-acre tract of remote forest, wetlands, and bogs completely surrounding Spearhead Lake. Students, school groups, and visitors can hike through the preserve on a trail system that takes you around the entire lake. Along the way you can see eagle nests, towering pines, delicate bog flowers, and more. We also have a classroom/laboratory, canoe landing, caretaker's residence, and other out-buildings. Keeping everything at NSC running takes help - and we do it all with volunteer help. If you like to work on outdoor projects we'd love to have you come out and join us on a work day. Sign up to be contacted when we have a project that needs assistance.
