Earned Income Tax Outreach

Your income level may qualify you to be eligible for free tax preparation software and free electronic filing. The IRS partners with 20 tax software companies to create this free service. Free File is for the cost conscious taxpayer who wants reliable question-and-answer software to help them prepare a return. Visit IRS.gov to learn more or click on "free file" logo.

AARP tax preparation counselors will be at the Senior Activity Center to provide assistance for seniors and low-income individuals Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from 9:15 am-3:15 pm starting January through April.
Help with Property Tax and Rent Refunds are available every second Monday of each month from May to September from 9AM-12PM.
Assistance is provided on a first come, first serve basis.
There is no charge for this service, however donations to the Center are appreciated.
To assist in the preparation of the federal, state, and property tax refunds, the counselors will need copies of all forms of income.
Forms for filing information are provided at the Senior Center.

Beginning Feb. 5, Bemidji State University students will be donating their time to offer free services as part of of the Internal Revenue Service’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program.
BSU students who have completed the Tax I course and passed IRS certification tests will offer free tax help each Wednesday and Thursday from 3-6 p.m.
Sessions will continue through April 15 and are held in room 14 of BSU’s Decker Hall, located at 1717 Birchmont Drive NE.
Due to the university’s spring break, sessions will not be offered March 11-12.
